Dai campaigns to save Arwelfa
This week, Dai has been talking to local residents and handing out consultation forms in Croeserw in the Afan Valley as part of the campaign to save Arwelfa residential home from closure.
Despite being part of the successful campaign to save the home only ten years ago, Dai Lloyd AM and the Plaid Cymru team have found that Neath Port Talbot borough council are again considering the closure of the site for as early as March 2017. Any threat of closure will bring huge concern to the residents and their families but such a sudden end to the service could leave many people in the lurch, with insufficient time to make other arrangements.
It is hoped that if enough local people from the Croeserw area and further afield respond to the consultation, that the home may be saved. Arwelfa provides a vital service to the local community and to have it lost would be a tragedy for the community, meaning that many elderly local people would have to leave their own community to find the care they need.
Dai, along with the whole Plaid Cymru team, are working tirelessly to ensure that Arwelfa is saved from the Labour-led council's cuts. If you would like a consultation form to fill in or would like to get involved in the campaign, please get in touch. Contact details can be found here.
