20 places isn't enough
South Wales West AM pressures government to deliver on promise
Dr Dai Lloyd, Plaid Cymru Assembly Member for South Wales West has questioned whether the 20 extra places in Welsh Language Primary Schools in Bridgend County Borough Council over the next 3 years is enough to deliver on the Welsh Government's promise of 1 million Welsh speakers by 2050.
The government target requires an additional 18,000 Welsh speakers per council area on average and it is clear that 20 extra school places will come nowhere near hitting that target. You can watch the video below of Dr Dai Lloyd, who is the Shadow Secretary for Culture, winning an assurance from the First Minister that weak plans will not be approved by the government.
