PLAID GIVES HERITAGE REVIEW ‘CAUTIOUS WELCOME’
Plaid Culture Spokesperson Dr. Dai Lloyd AM has given a report on the future of Wales’ historic institutions a ‘cautious welcome’, as Wales’ heritage bodies reject a formal merger of any of their functions.
Dai Lloyd stated:
“I am pleased that the report on the review of cultural services has acknowledged the importance of the independence and core purposes of these national institutions.
“I have long argued that the independence of these institutions should be protected, and the views of the institutions within this report reflects this view, which is to be welcomed.
“Co-operation between the institutions through the establishment of a strategic partnership seems a far more sensible way forward.
“I would urge the Cabinet Secretary to respond to the recommendations, and to report to Assembly Members as soon as is practicable, so that the sector can be given the certainty that it needs in moving forward.”
