Neath Youth Homeless Project Praised by AM
Plaid Cymru AM for South Wales West, Dr Dai Lloyd has heaped praise on Clarewood Foyer, Gwalia’s Neath project. Dr Lloyd met with staff and residents of Clarewood on his visit and was given a tour by Project Worker, Jim Harle. Clarewood is a facility for young people aged between 16 & 25 who are either homeless or at risk of homelessness, with room for up to 8 residents. Speaking after his visit to the site, Dr Lloyd said;
“It has been a pleasure to be shown the day to day goings on at Clarewood. I had the opportunity to be shown round the facility by Jim, whose passion for his work with vulnerable young people comes across straight away. I met with some of the residents of Clarewood which was a valuable experience. The work that is being done here by the whole team, staff and residents is fantastic, the young people staying here have access to training courses, woodworking and cooking.”
Project Worker, Jim Harle added;
“It was great to meet Dai and discuss some of the issues that young people are facing in relation to access to employment, training and benefits.Dai very kindly offered for the residents of Clarewood to visit the Senedd and learn more about the Welsh Assembly. This is something we are definitely looking forward to.”
